Customer: Milestone Materials

Product: K-2™ Kiosk
Location: Onalaska, WI
Challenge:

Milestone Materials is a large aggregate producer that managers many small to mid volume pits and quarries. Given the volume at the locations, Milestone could not justify having a full time scale operator to run these sites. They wanted to automate the ticketing and data collection process in order to be more cost-effective and efficient.

Solution:

In 2005, Milestone started implementing data collection kiosks at a number of their sites. Over the years, over 30 systems have been installed. Milestone is currently converting the older RSA equipment with cellular based K-2 kiosks that automatically sync data to their office after every transaction. This data is then imported into their ViewPoint software.p>

Customer: Gerke & Sons, Inc.

Product: K-2™ Kiosk with Interact® Pro software and cellular network interface.
Location: Tomah, WI
CHALLENGE:

Gerke & Sons needed to collect scale ticket data from remote frac-sand and gravel-pit operations 24/7. These sites did not have access to phone lines for communication purposes. Also, Gerke & Sons wanted a data collection system that was portable so they could move it from pit to pit as needed.

SOLUTION:

With the installation of the Interact Pro software at the main office and portable K-2 kiosks at three remote pits, Gerke & Sons is able to run their business more efficiently and collect data faster, resulting in improved cash flow.

Each system includes a cellular network interface to allow the office to send updated job, material and truck database information to each site on a daily basis. At the same time, the previous day’s transactions are downloaded from the site to the office. These data collection systems have allowed Gerke & Sons to efficiently expand their business from a single site operation to one that manages several pit sites.

Customer: Michels Materials

Product: K-2™ Kiosk
Location: Brownsville, WI
Challenge:

Michels Materials is a large aggregate producer that operates several dozen small to mid-sized pits and quarries in WI and MN. Michels had the problem of ticket data getting back to the office in a timely and accurate manner.

Solution:

In 2005, Michels installed six RSA data collection systems. The RSA was a first generation kiosk from AWS. Over the years, Michels installed over thirty systems and outgrew the RSA’s capabilities. In 2016, they started installing K-2 systems. The K-2 allowed Michels to seamlessly connect to each site to update database tables (i.e. job, trucks, etc.) and pull transaction data. This data then interfaced with their JWS software to provide a seamless data collection process.
